Smooth Ride

No! It's not a Harley or a Cadillac...

Come try a Tennessee Walking Horse at Horse Source 4 U Stables!

The Tennessee Walking Horse

Qualities that place the Tennessee Walking Horse in a class of its own are; gentle disposition, beauty, intelligence, dependability, and its incredible smooth to ride natural gaits.

The Tennessee Walking Horse was developed to have great endurance and a smooth ride that could cover several miles quickly by southern plantation owners.

The Tennessee Walking Horse was bred mainly from Standardbred, Morgan, and Thoroughbred stock to possess its easy-riding smooth gaits along with endurance and stamina. Plantation owners used horses to travel across their miles and miles of land to observe their vast acres of crops, such as cotton and/or tobacco. The long days of riding on their trotting horse with its “up and down” movement, caused a great deal of discomfort for the rider.

Today the Tennessee Walking Horse is used in many ways; show, trail riding, mounted police, jumping competition, field trials, etc.
